New South Wales Fire Brigades Golf Club

The New South Wales Fire Brigades Golf Club has a rich history of colleagues coming together through their professional association within the Fire + Rescue NSW (NSW Fire Brigades) and the enjoyment of golf.

NSWFB Golf Club morphed out of the old A & C districts Golf Clubs around 1975, with John Webb instrumental in bringing the clubs together. Like all sports clubs within Fire + Rescue the Golf Club has had a succession of tireless organisers, committee & Captains over the years. The likes of John Davies, Dave Andrews, John Honeybrook, Paul Risk, Chris Windsor, Tony Mason, Mark Harrington, Gaz Malpass & Greg Flynn have kept the comradeship of our people together through Golf and laughter.

The NSWFB Golf Club attended the first Austalasian Fire Brigades Golf Championships in 1977 in Melbourne. Our team of 6 were successful taking out the championships and has been successful on 7 other occasions last in 2005. This year marks the 44th Annual Australasian Fire Brigades Golf Championships played at Moona Links in Victoria with all states and territories of Australia represented plus New Zealand. The event will bring together around 200 current serving & retired Fire Fighters together to enjoy the golf and social events. Like any national event this also takes the efforts of many to be successful and NSW has Ian Woodlands, Neville Duncan & Garry Munro recognised for their efforts and our Life Members of the Australasian Fire Brigades Golf Club. NSW will host the Championships in 2022 at Coffs Harbour.
The NSWFB’s Golf Club is affiliated with the FRNSW Sports Association, as such it is the recognised Golf Club within the service. We are governed by a constitution and election of Officers and Committee every year, normally at the AGM which is held after the last game.

Criteria for the State team selection and Individual Grade State Champions are laid out in the Constitution and strictly adhered to. We arrange approximately 11 games per calendar year, 4 of these games are to determine State Team Selection and 3 are for our internal State Championships.

The Australasian FB Championships are held every year on a rotational basis between every state Australian State, Territory and New Zealand. Games are played on high quality Golf Courses.

Any serving Fire Brigade member with an A.G.U. handicap (after 2 years membership) can qualify for the State Team. All new state team selections are supplied with a uniform.

We attempt to play our games on great courses in the Greater Sydney Area and we also play annual inter club games against the Newcastle, Central Coast Fire Fighters Golf Clubs along with our annual event against the ACT Fire Brigades & Wollongong Golf Clubs at Gerringong Golf Club.
