The cycling club is not active at present but a group of cyclists with Fire + Rescue NSW do undertake the ‘400 in 4’ charity ride raising money for burns victims. On a yearly basis a group of FRNSW riders embark on an epic 4-day journey, cycling over 400 kilometres from places like Wagga Wagga to Sydney to raise funds for the Burns Unit at the Children’s Hospital, Westmead. The riders consisted of a group of firefighters as well as representatives of some major sponsors. The ride visits towns like Goulburn, Yass and Gundagai along the way and firefighters also visit local schools on the way to teach children about fire safety.
2020 will be the 15th consecutive year of the ‘400in4’ Charity Ride. Last year they raised over $84,000, and to date, the charity has raised over $800,000 for the children within this specialist unit.
In 2020, the “400 in 4” firefighters from Fire and Rescue NSW, ACT Fire & Rescue and some representatives of the major sponsors are riding a different route from Huskisson to Mt Kosciusko over 4 days to raise money for the Burns Unit at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead.
