Fire + Rescue Sailing Club

The sailing club is not active at present but has competed in Sydney Harbour in regular regattas in the past. Up to 250 firies and friends enjoying some competitions. Some boats have also competed in off shore events such as the Sydney to Southport or Lord Howe Island races.

Early competition saw the Fire brigade compete against the navy around the 1900’s in whaler boats. The Fire brigade defeated the sailors from the HMS Torch one year to secure the title of ‘Champions of the Fleet’. Anyone wishing to help to restart the Sailing Club can certainly contact the Sports Association for assistance.
