Fire + Rescue AFL Club

Club History

The NSWFB AFL Team had been inactive for many years, possibly since the commencement of the Second World War until it was re-established around 2003. Superintendent Mark Whybro, Station Officer John Roche and Firefighter Damien Newson were installed as the President, Treasurer and Secretary of the club.

Current

The FRNSW team has in the past undertaken games against the ADF (Australian Defence Force) Allstars at Telstra Stadium, as a warm-up for the Swans v Melbourne ANZAC Day celebration game. This was an annual event for several years.

On another note, an exhibition game of AFL was played at the World Police and Fire Games held in Adelaide in 2007. The Australian Fire Services took on the Australian Police Forces with the Fire Services coming out victors by 115 points. The NSWFB was represented by Mick McBain, Janis Blums and Cameron Thompson.

Although not a normal competition event in the World Police and Fire Games, AFL 9‘s competitions are held in the AP&ES Games.
